Leo Chan Exhibit Leo Chan Exhibit "Colors and Faces"

Tak Shing (Leo) Chan, a native from Hong Kong, earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Media Arts. His experiences and background in mass communication and media arts have stimulated his interests in both research and creative work. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Communication Program and Digital Media Studies at University of Houston --- Clear Lake.

Leo visited Egypt last summer, which he described as a life enriching experience. He took a series of photographs informed by the faces and culture in Egypt. For this series, he also explored his feeling of being in this unique culture.

In addition to seeing the pyramids and temples, and boating on the Nile, he enjoyed meeting people there immensely. The different emotions on the faces that he saw in Egypt made his trip unforgettable. Leo was very fortunate to be able to capture the emotions of regular people; kids, women and men in his photographs. He said that some faces made him smile, and some made him feel sad. Some faces were gracious, and some were simply adorable. He also loved the colors portrayed in his photographs; the colors represented the uniqueness of the culture in Egypt. He’s forever grateful for all those faces in his photographs. With such a unique experience, he is delighted to share this life enriching journey with the rest of the world through this series of photographs with the connecting theme of “Colors and Faces”.
